Calvin Zola is a 6'3" tall striker who signed a professional contract with Newcastle in July 2001. The Congo born striker was handed the number 37 squad number for season 2002-03, after inpressing since joining Toon in the summer of 2000.
Zola says that his biggest inluence is Ronaldo, a player who current Magpies boss Sir Bobby Robson has signed twice before. Zola's aim is to make it in football by the end of 2003, and he could be on the way to do that because Zola scored for the Under 19s on his first full appearance after having been a regular in the Under 17s throughout last season. Zola also scored one of the goals that saw United U17s beat Manchester United 2-0 at St. James Park in May 2002 which clinched the National Under 17 Play Off title.
Zola has scored 17 goals for Newcastle in various levels of the game, and will be hoping to break through and do the same at first-team status.
