Brian Kerr

Brian Kerr is a member of the Newcastle United youth ranks. The tenacious and battling Scottish midfield player chose Newcastle ahead of Glasgow Rangers as a teenager and has never looked back. Many top clubs were watching him, but he came south to Newcastle shortly after his 17th birthday.

Kerr made his first full team debut for Toon at Coventry in September 2000 and then spent the rest of the season in the Reserves but picked up a serious shoulder injury in February which needed an operation which brought an early end to what might have been a productive final couple of months of the season for the youngster.

Kerr played twice in the FA Cup in 2001-02, but the following season broke through into the first team again for a while, playing 10 games, including five starts from midfield. Kerr also won his first Scotland cap against New Zealand in May 2003, and the future looks bright for the young midfielder if he can keep up his good work.
